Via GDF SUEZ’s Rassembleurs d’Energies, the Group provides technical and financial support for projects contributing to sustainable energy access for vulnerable population groups throughout the world.
What is the aim of GDF SUEZ’s Rassembleurs d’Energies?
Since 2011, the Group has set a unifying dynamics into motion to help population groups in fuel poverty in Europe and throughout the world. The aim of GDF SUEZ’s Rassembleurs d’Energies is to contribute to developing energy access for impoverished population groups in the less developed countries and to combat fuel poverty in developed countries.
The principle is to promote low-carbon solutions in both cases; i.e. to promote renewable energies in developing countries and to encourage energy-saving programs in developed countries. To achieve this aim, the Group supports social project backers or NGOs on the strength of its areas of expertise in the energy and energy services fields.
What are the action drivers for GDF SUEZ’s Rassembleurs d’Energies?
Energy access projects often vary and may require the use of one or more of these drivers, depending on their specific features. These drivers may be used simultaneously or alternately, depending on the different phases of the project.
Energy access projects often require substantial investment. To meet this demand, GDF SUEZ has set up a social solidarity investment fund, which invests in projects that provide access to sustainable energy for impoverished population groups via a social solidarity investment company. The aim of the social solidarity investment fund is to invest in projects with a social purpose that are economically feasible and backed by committed social entrepreneurs.
Technical assistance through skills sponsorship
GDF SUEZ’ internal NGOs are the preferred channels for involving the Group’s employees. Employees can become involved with social entrepreneurs in one-off technical assignments that last a few days, or in longer-term follow-up assignments lasting over six months.
The GDF SUEZ Rassembleurs d’Energies donation driver calls upon the GDF SUEZ Foundation’s “energy for all” program. This program supports public interest programs backed by Group organizations, NGOs or employees. These projects aim to promote sustainable energy access for impoverished population groups and groups suffering fuel poverty.
